Kid Tested. Kid Approved.

I bought two of these for my newly purchased pair of Samsung Galaxy Note 8s. One is going to my 7 year old and one is going to my 6 year old. Both had a Toshiba Thrive and each one of those was being held together by shipping tape. So this time I wanted something that would last a couple of years. The back looks like rubber tire material exactly as pictured. What you don't see is the that the front has the same material around the edges but the internal protector is a hard red plastic. My girls love it. I was concerned that they wouldn't like the case because they want everything to be pretty, but this case is very nice looking and protects the tablet very well like a rugged case should. This case even includes an integrated heavy duty screen cover. I didn't know it had that when I bought it. I had already installed a screen protector when I discovered it. So I decided to use BOTH of them. To my surprise, the S-Pen and my finger work perfectly even though the screen is doubly protected.
The case lines up perfectly so everything is accessible (I know a reviewer of another color said it didn't, but I surmise that careful installation would remedy the situation. There are cutouts for the cameras, auto-focus, TV remote blaster, and covers for the S-Pen, power adapter, headphone jack, etc. They have made everything perfectly convenient while still protecting the tablet. I'm confident that if the tablet is dropped, it will remain unscathed.
I was looking for an otterbox, but at this time, there doesn't appear to be any available. I'm glad I stumbled across this case. I know my kids would like this better than a traditional all black case. The only thing that would be better is if this case in hot pink. The price is in line with the protection it provides. 5 stars all the way.

Awesome case

So when I got my Note 8.0 I went to the AT&T store to get some protection for it. What I first got was a "book" style case and it really did not offer any protection in my opinion. If I were ever to drop my tablet, there goes a very expensive gadget. I have an Otter Box on my Note 2 and have dropped it many times and no damage at all so I am expecting the same type of protection from this case. It is basically the same design as the Otter box with the exception that there isn't the two piece internal plastic shield that Otter Box offers. The tablet basically fits into a single front protector and the rubber "skin, snaps into place from the back. There isn't anything flimsy about this case. It is very sturdy, fits great in the hand, and does not add much extra size to the tablet like my Otterbox does on my Note 2 phone. So, overall I am very pleased with the design and if you need some protection, get this case. You will not be disappointed.
