Logitech's Wired Keyboard for the iPad and iPad mini is a step in the right direct for the folks who prefer a keyboard to on-screen typing. With a convenient built-in Lightning Connector the keyboard plugs right into your device and allows you to start typing.
The keyboard is fairly compact at about 12 inches long, five inches wide, and an inch or so high; however, it's not compact enough to carry around conveniently. I like the idea of an attachable keyboard accessory like Microsoft did with the Surface keyboard - something that's portable and melds nicely into a tablet's design. But the intent of Logitech's keyboard appears to be as a tool in a classroom setting - a convenient means of connecting a table directly to a keyboard without worrying about batteries or interference from multiple Bluetooth connections. For a classroom utilizing tablets with a Lightning interface, this would be an excellent tool. They keyboard rests an inch and a quarter off the desk and allows for fast, fairly quiet, responsive typing. I type at about 60 words a minute and found it easy to work with.
Interestingly enough, I found this keyboard also worked with my iPhone 5. Since it had the same connector, I thought I'd give it a shot. It worked when typing e-mails, notes, or for blogging on the web. Of course it's a bit inconvenient with such a small screen, but it'll work in a pinch in the event the iPhone's all that's available and there's typing to be done.
All-in-all, this keyboard will be great in a classroom setting due to its ease of use and allowing a user to simply plug in and type. If you're on-the-go and utilize a blackpack/briefcase/large purse, this should also work fine. By itself, it's a little inconvenient due to size, as there's no case for storage or transport.

Logitech Wired Keyboard with Lightning Connector for iPad 4/iPad mini (920-005843)
Finally someone came up with a non-Bluetooth keyboard solution for the iPad (and iPhone IMHO) that use the Lightning connector. The Logitech wired keyboard does this trick and does it very well. It is intended for school kids in a classroom environment. That's all well and good but what about the rest of us. Well, it's great for us too! I can just plug it in and it just works. No pairing, no extra weight of built in batteries, no hassle. It types well, though I'm no touch-typist. It isn't very heavy which is good for travel but is compensated by some rubber legs for stability on the desk. I do wish there were fold out adjusters on the back end, though. Still this is a very nice keyboard, doesn't seem to drain the iPad battery much at all. To that end it doesn't use LEDs to mark the locking keys.
There are a bunch of special function keys like media controls and app switching. Also the missing from Apple virtual keyboards but present here are arrow/directional keys, Yay!. The only other thing I find missing is a nice soft bag to contain the keyboard for travel. I did test the keyboard on my iPhone 5 and it worked like a charm. Maybe there's a feature I missed but I was typing and switching apps and playing music, so I'm not an official tech source but for general purpose it worked on my iPhone just fine. This is a great and different keyboard, I love it!

This is a great keyboard from Logitech. Build quality is excellent, as you'd expect from a company primarily known for making keyboards and mice. While specifically marketed as a classroom keyboard, this makes for a great everyday keyboard for adults as well. Aside from the lime green back, which I find attractive, it hasn't been kid-ified.
The keyboard runs off the power from the iPad and does not need batteries of its own. Just plug and type. The keys feel good and are kind of klacky. Selecting text and cutting and pasting is one of the most cumbersome and annoying tasks on a touch screen. With the cursor keys and command keys, this common task is made a breeze.
Great for the classroom, home or office.
Packaging design is environmentally aware and only includes the outer cardboard box, 2 paper inserts, and a clear plastic bag holding the keyboard. Kudos for that. 3 year hardware warranty, which is generous by today's standards of 1 year (or some manufacturers, 90 days).
