Does not fit iPad 3 (new gen)

Item appears to do what it says it will, so no complaints on that score. Started charging the iPad
Cautions: Though it does work with the smart cover, it's only a cutout on the left side and so does not snap the smart cover securely into place as does the iBlason (protective only) back casing. Upshot - if you drop your iPad, the smart cover is likely to come off and provide no protection whatsoever. (Which was my original beef with the smart cover.) You will need a screen protector.
It probably does work well with an iPad 2, as it says. I purchased because I saw a review that said it works with the iPad 3 as well - it does not. It is a one-piece cover with small, thin flanges in the upper two corners that are supposed to "snap" over the iPad and hold it securely into place. The extra mm of thickness to the iPad 3 is just too much, so these get smooshed against the side of the case as well. The flanges are so thin they bend very easily, so there's nothing to hold the iPad in the case. I am currently holding my beloved iPad 3 in with double-sided sticky tape. Ugh, but if it offers the extra battery life, I'll take it.
I do think it would fit very tightly on the iPad 2, and would be difficult to take on and off because of that. Good for security, bad if you only want to carry the extra (relatively minimal for this type of case, about 5 oz.) weight when you need extra battery. For this reason, I prefer the two-part cases with the top piece that slides on and off.
So far, hasn't heated up a bit during charging (just starting now). Don't know how it will handle the warm-up the iPad 3 has when it's charging and/or working hard, or if it will dissipate heat well. I'll post update if I have a problem.
Last - seems to be made of a very cheap, smooth plastic, so I don't know how well it would hold up to bumps and bangs. Since I can't speak to that yet, I won't rate based on it - just be aware that it'll clatter if you drop it on tile or hard floors.

Does what it says. Fairly Low Profile. Takes a long time to charge.

The title says it all. I have been looking for a low profile charging cover for my iPad for some time. Finally found something that looked nice and allowed me to maintain the integrity and appearance of the iPad without a cover or folio. Works great. Runs a bit warm at the source of the connection. And definitely more than doubles the user time. So its good. Very good for that. Looks good. Its a bit heavy but not unbearably so. If you use your iPad a lot and want to maintain the visual integrity, a good buy. As for the smart cover, it fits quite fine. Yes, you would have to take it off - which is hard to do - to sync. BUT....iCloud should completely eliminate the need to sync ever.

Does what it says

I am obsessive compulsive about remaining battery life of my ipad2. I get under 50% and suddenly I'll start rationing what i do with it. First I changed the ipad display to NOT show the percentage but still, seeing the icon battery emptier and emptier gives me fits.
Well, no more - this MiLi battery holds a full extra charge for Ipad so together with full ipad2 battery I have solid 18 hours of wifi enabled fun. When your Ipad2 battery gets very low you simply push button to start charging from MiLi battery, no interruption of your ipad activities. It takes at least 5 hours to charge. A set of blue LED's shows you how full the battery is. Also while mated with your ipad, you'll lose the ability to connect to your computer via the "ipad" plug. It provides openings for the ipad's speaker, camera and headphone jack. The volume adjustment is mechanically transferred from the ipad through the case in less than ideal way, and I'll find it frustrating to use, and simply go for "onscreen" volume adjustment.
Overall, I use the case only on longer outings where I am in danger of running out of power. And that was my reason to get it in the first place.
The battery is quite heavy, but that's what batteries are. On the other hand, it is quite pleasant to touch and ergonomically pleasing to hold. The fit over the ipad is VERY snug, it takes an effort to get the edges of the case to fit and "click" over the ipad. It fits the apple ipad smart cover very well - I think the earlier comment must have been about a "knockoff" smart cover. It is pricey, but it does exactly what I expect it and need it to do. No less.
