Good iPad Case: Slim, Functional and Beautiful
By Bookster
The Mapicases Kolossa Premium leather Smartcase is an excellent choice for the fourth generation iPad. The cover works very well for propping the iPad for viewing or for typing and overall it has a well-planned design. To prop your iPad for movie viewing, the cover rolls up into a triangular tube and the viewing surface stands at about 30-35 degrees off the vertical. When tipped over, the typing surface is about ten degrees above the horizontal.
Your iPad is held into the frame of the case by a flap which is held in place with velcro on the inside back surface of the case. This is very secure, invisible, and surprisingly easy to engage or disengage. When the cover of the case is closed, it is held in place with small magnets which also put your iPad into sleep mode.
Overall the function is pretty much the same as the Apple iPad Smart Case. But the Mipicases Smartcase is made of high quality leather with very fine stitching. As an example of the thought which went into the design of this case, the foldable cover is slightly smaller (about 1mm on each edge) than the body of the case. Presumably this is to shield and protect the cover from accidental opening when the iPad and case are stored, say in a backpack or briefcase. This is important to keep your iPad from accidentally coming awake and wasting battery life, and to protect the iPad digitizer from accidental exposure.
The downside? It's quite expensive at $149. But if you own one of the high-end iPads and if you can afford the case, then the price is well worth the protection and functionality.
Five stars to Mapicases for this well-executed leather take on the iPad Smart Case.

A must have! Stunning!
By Debbie Seven
Normally I don't write reviews, but I had to for this one! I have owned many covers for my iPad however.... This one is the most stunning and beautifully made I have ever owned. I was a little creeped out about the price but now that it is here, I absolutely have NO regrets. I just want to show it off it is so stunning. The stitching is beautiful and perfectly done. The leather is super quality leather, very soft. You can tell it was hand made with integrity... and the smell of fine leather is the best. You won't be disappointed. It is a very high quality product and I just love it. It even feels great in your hands while you snuggle up with your i pad.

stylish and functional
By Jason
I wanted a stylish case to protect my iPad 4 from scratches and minor dings.
Here's what I love about this case:
1) fits perfectly
2) on/off magnetic feature works every time
3) simply beautiful
4) high quality
5) never gets in the way
6) adds no noticeable bulk or weight to the iPad
7) comes with a nice cloth cover to protect the case ... sounds silly but it's really a nice feature.
I use my iPad mostly for reading, and I can fold the cover back behind it like a magazine cover and forget it is there.
Potential cons:
1) I have never tried to use the cover to hold up the iPad for watching videos, or typing, for that matter, so if you need a cover that doubles as a stand, I cannot honestly say whether or not it will work for you.
2) This is a thin leather cover. It will protect your pad from scratches and (maybe?) dings, but don't expect it to save your tablet from a real fall.
3) It is a bit pricey, but you do get a nice quality product, and I'll not deduct any stars for that because you know about it up front.
